What are the documents required to apply for Turkish citizenship?
There is a set of papers and documents that you must collect before applying for Turkish citizenship, whatever the method is:
1- A copy of the applicant’s passport, after it has been translated into Turkish by a sworn translator and certified by a notary public. This also applies to the passports of the wife and children.
2- A document on the person's civil status, and by that we mean the document that proves that he is married or single, and of course it must be translated into Turkish and certified by the Turkish Consulate.
3- The birth certificate of the applicant, his wife and children, and it must also be translated and certified by the Turkish Consulate.
4- Two recent personal photos for each person.
5- In the event of applying for Turkish citizenship by purchasing a property, a copy of the title deed of the purchased property must be attached.
6- The real estate evaluation report must be submitted when applying for Turkish citizenship through real estate investment. This evaluation includes comprehensive information about the property with the real price it deserves, which is a prerequisite for obtaining citizenship and is valid for only three months from the date of its issuance.
7- All cash payment receipts must be submitted and sealed with the bank's seal.
8- Receipts must also be submitted from the bank account of the property owner, provided that they are also stamped with the bank’s seal.
9- It is necessary to extract the tax number for each family member.
10- Submitting the Turkish citizenship application form after filling it out and signing it only by the person concerned or the agent.
Stages of obtaining Turkish citizenship:
1- The first stage is the stage of submitting the papers, and this is done after you receive a call from the Immigration Directorate.
2- Then comes the second stage, in which these documents are sent to the Turkish capital, Ankara, where the information and documents that were sent are studied.
3- At this stage, an audit committee is formed under the chairmanship of the director of the Turkish Citizenship Department. After the audit is completed, and in case of acceptance, the file is transferred to the fourth stage.
4- This stage is considered the most difficult and longest stage, as the file is sent to the Directorate of Immigration in the city in which the person is submitted, and then the verification processes begin for all the information and data contained in the submitted documents, study the security situation and discover any problems Or lawsuits or irregularities arranged against the applicant.
This stage usually takes a time that extends from a month and a half to about a year, due to the fact that the file is sent to official bodies, namely the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Security Departments, the Ministry of Finance.
5- In the fifth stage, the file is sent to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
6- At this stage, the final decision is made regarding obtaining Turkish citizenship.
7- After the decision is made, the file is sent to the official department suffering by handing over the personal identity, as the applicant goes to it to complete the procedures and obtain citizenship to become a Turkish citizen.
On May 13, 2022, the Turkish government issued a decision to raise the amount of obtaining Turkish citizenship through the purchase of real estate to a value of 400,000 dollars instead of 250,000 dollars. The decision has been implemented starting in June 2022.
The investor has the right to buy a real estate or several properties with the new amount of $400,000 in order to obtain citizenship, provided that the investor must keep the property for 3 years and he mustn’t sell the property he purchased for the purpose of citizenship before 3 years from the date of purchasing.
